An illustration that i had done for a project that was showcasing the many sights and sounds of India through a jigsaw puzzle format.

Rickshaw to the dark side.

A sketch of  three men enjoying their first smoke after a long day's work  developed into a complete composition with additional elements thrown in .The results seemed interesting enough to be put up, hope you guys feel the same..

Road..

"I think of Dean Moriarty, I even think of old Dean Moriarty the father we never found, I think of Dean Moriarty."

A fan sketch for this poignant novel...Although A friend did point out that the front view mirror is showing the wrong angle but kept it unchanged anyway.

Carnivale!!

A sketch i did for a client which eventually didnt work out so freaked out with the colours and see where the results went..

Accident Grotesque.

First couple of them in a series of illustrations with "maggots" as the recurring theme. A blend of Battleship Potemkin and 3 days old noodle can do strange things to a sketchbook. Would be adding the rest of it as it gets done..

K7

Illustrations for the K7 Anti-Virus' mobile security launch campaign. Had immense fun developing the style and create this unique but informative based print ads.The campaign has gone ahead with the changes in the security personnel's character design but this first release was more in sync with the idea.

Paper Boat

Web Banners for Paper boat's product launch. In some cases the product information was the primary communication criteria while in other cases the product itself was a character blending with a particular aspect of our nostalgic memories.

"Thook"posters

Poster design for Indian Ensemble's production on the issue of  Hunger. Its a fascinating story inter cutting between the food riots and a family torn apart by its repercussions. A long project which spanned over a year with collaborations from almost 5 nations who share similar stories of the apathy of the state and the sufferings of the individual as a resultant of the issues of hunger.

Barbeque Nation

Character Designs and Creatives for Barbeque Nation's Family campaign idea that the agency had pitched. This was a core branding exercise for us as we worked towards providing a uniform communication involving only these set of characters from our side. The campaign itself could not be put into execution for logistical issues from the client's end.

Barbeque Nation Family photo with a few iterations.
P.K Janaji in different avatars.

Young Aksar Ana.

The characters themselves went through several iterations post the first presentation with the DJ Rogan Josh donning a hat and letting go of his Rastafarian looks and Chini darling becoming more bold in her looks and her attire.

Creatives for a sea food festival involving the characters in the campaign.

Further illustrations for several other food festivals. The creatives itself was not completed as the character design campaign could not be taken forward.

Barbeque nation's Veggieque launch creatives. The spoof film posters were a fun way of making the vegetables the hero, in a predominantly non vegetarian consumer driven restaurant.

Neel Lohit

Poster design for the "Neel Lohit" film's music launch .

Treadmill

Poster for an Indian ensemble's production " Treadmill". The play revolved around the protagonist's journey from a small town to the big city and the numerous elements of the bustling metropolis which eventually starts shaping his identity, that itself results in a conflict between his past and his present way of life.

The play after enjoying a successful run had returned for a second stint and was staged in other cities as well .

Botokeshto..!!

This is Botokeshto..one of the many numerous characters that keeps squiggling out of my head,

Botokeshto lives in Shyambazar one of the last of the decadent era of Businessmen , he has made most of
his money by smuggling narcotics inside bananas to Latin American Nations. Behind is Sir Edward Idur his legal adviser. Botokeshto is of Bengali Parentage but his roots of his mother Komola-bai the noted nautch girls of Shyambazar is slightly blurred..More of Botokeshto's life-story to come ..will keep you all posted

This is Botokeshto's old man , a quintessential smuggler himself .His operations although were quite local compared to his son's global exploits. But he did provide Botokeshto the genes and the resources to flourish..

The Breakfast..

The Breakfast poster featuring the Egg and the Bread is the first in a series of posters which would be defining a campaign for certain innovation driven products in the development centre of my department. The first one being the initial draft meanwhile the second one is the final poster.
The content in the poster basically attempts to initiate a discussion in the next level of money transfer.

Setting the context and conceptualising the poster was fun and after several iterations this was the final design.

Herbert...Doborer Chyaang!!!

A Fan poster made for Suman Mukhopadhay's film "Herbert". The skillful capturing of the ever volatile nature of my hometown coupled with the eccentricity of the characters makes the film a very interesting watch. It follows the life of a somewhat social outcast orphaned at childhood, and meanders on the lines of spirituality. This coupled  with him becoming an anchor point as the city rapidly changes around him.

Suman, the filmaker had to say and i quote "Bah bah!!"..for this piece of work. Worth the effort ..

Jazz and the strings..

Couple of posters that i had done for a jazz concert held at The Basement, Kolkata. Although only the first one got approved, I somehow like the latter one better. Drew inspiration from the music and the old posters of the 40s and 50s. Do leave your feedback if you happen to like them!

Final Film

"The Secret Life of Bhotbhoti Maiti" , is the final animation film of my Diploma. It was an episodic animation pilot hence this video is an introductory pilot to the series of misadventures of our quirky autodriver Bhotbhoti Maiti . It took me about 8 months from conception to the final product. There are probably some changes that could be done with the film but currently this is it; do check it out and leave your valuable feedback.

Classroom Project

This is a copy of the classroom project that i had worked on during my 4th year of Animation. It is based in my hometown and it is the story of Bidrohi Sen, one of the quintessential Bengali have-beens, and his relationship with his favourite coffee shop wherein he finds his own. The film captures nostalgia and the city's perpetual conflict with its past. And Bidrohi Sen forms a pivot between the days gone by and the days of change that prevail.

Bhola Da ar Brishti!!

The opening sequence

 rain drenched ghats

The lonely nights and the lack of research!!

These are a beginning to the set of scribbles and storyboards that i am doing for  a graphic novel that i intend to embark on. But currently there is very less research from my end and the story in itself needs a certain bit of fleshing out , but the character and the references are from a series of incidents that happened and the multitude of stories that i heard while preparing for my final film.Do look out for this space as more sketches are on the offer.
